The immediate surroundings
Camperplaats Landingshoeve is located in the large Brabant nature reserve Het Groene Woud and in the recreational area Vlagheide of the municipality of Meierijstad. You will find much of the old Brabant landscape here, interspersed with forest areas, rivers such as the Aa and Dommel, the Zuid-Willemsvaart, extensive agricultural and natural areas such as the Wijbosch Broek with De Schaapskooi, the Eerdse Bergen, Vlagheideberg and many more. There are plenty of catering establishments for both cyclists and hikers that offer opportunities for a pleasant break. For wine lovers, the Rooise Wijnboer with the vineyard Domaine les Damianes is also worth a visit.
The pleasant centre of Sint-Oedenrode is also a great place to stay or enjoy the outdoors by the water of the Streekpark Kienehoef. The centre of Sint-Oedenrode is only 5 km away. A visit to Veghel is definitely recommended at the weekend, especially the Noordkade Veghel area at the harbour offers various entertainment venues. On Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons there are regular live performances by music groups, with a diverse range of styles. This quay with old grain silos also shows old machines and cranes that were used in times gone by for the compound feed factory. Veghel centre is approximately 8 km away and is easily accessible by bike.
In the slightly further vicinity there are various mills and castles to admire, such as the beautiful Kasteel Heeswijk and the completely restored Kilsdonkse molen, a rare combination of wind and water mill, in Dinther. From these last two locations, a whisper boat also sails on the river Aa on certain days during the season. In Dinther there is an opportunity to visit the whisky distillery of Bus Whisky, taste their whisky and possibly have a bite to eat. We have prepared a number of cycling tours (junction number guided) that will lead you through these areas by theme.
Camperplaats Landingshoeve is located in the middle of the area that played a short but important role in the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allied troops during the Second World War. The street name Landingsweg and the nearby Vliegveldweg still refer to this past of the Schijndel airfield B.85. In the month of September, commemorations and events related to Operation Market Garden are still organized in this area and elsewhere in Meierijstad. Since mid-2024, a very special podwalk is launched that guides you through the village of Eerde and its immediate surroundings, which lets you experience the story of the liberation of the South of the Netherlands in September 1944. A story with special 3D sound effects makes this a real (walking) experience that you should not miss. A number of cycling tours include a visit to the Museum Bevrijdende Vleugels in Son, which also shows other impressions and tells the intense story of this operation Market Garden in 1944.
As you can read above, the area around Camperplaats Landingshoeve is ideal for both walking and cycling tours for shorter and longer distances. Come and enjoy the Brabant hospitality, the Brabant landscape and enjoy a drink, lunch or dinner at one of the many catering establishments on your discovery tours. There are various places for this in the cozy center of Schijndel, with the Glazen Boerderij (farmhouse of glass) on the Market as a striking building. In addition to Paaspop, Schijndel also has various events in the summer period, such as the cultural Eenander festival, the Hartemèrt fair, Schijndel aan Zee and others.
An overview of all activities and current agenda can be found on Visit Meierijstad.
As you can read above, there is plenty to do in the area, after which you can relax again at our quiet camper site. May we welcome you too to our place soon?
